What is Anxiety?
There are times when we have all felt a small sense of anxiety whether we are about to get in trouble with parents when we are younger, taking a test during young adulthood or being called into the office at work. Anxiety can occur with feelings of nervousness and is a form of stress. There are some people however, that experience this anxiety over the course of long term periods, rather than just prior to stressful events. At this point, the anxiety is than given the label of an anxiety disorder and there are often measures that are used to treat the disorder and reduce the symptoms that are associated with experiencing the anxiety.
Anxiety disorders are common in people that are experiencing high levels of stress and can result in the patient suffering from anxiety attacks. Anxiety attacks occur when the stress becoming overwhelming and therefore can affect the body through physical symptoms. The physical symptoms that are associated with an anxiety disorder include the feelings of overwhelming dread, the inability to take deep breaths, rapid heart rates and elevated blood pressure readings. There may also be patients that experience nausea and cold sweats. The symptoms are different for every person that experiences the disorder.
