Have you ever had a night where you were just unable to get to sleep regardless of what you did? There are times when we have all felt a small sense of anxiety whether we are about to get in trouble with parents when we are younger, taking a test during young adulthood or being called into the office at work. Anxiety can occur with feelings of nervousness and is a form of stress. There are some people however, that experience this anxiety over the course of long term periods, rather than just prior to stressful events. At this point, the anxiety is than given the label of an anxiety disorder and there are often measures that are used to treat the disorder and reduce the symptoms that are associated with experiencing the anxiety.
Anxiety disorders are common in people that are experiencing high levels of stress and can result in the patient suffering from anxiety attacks. Anxiety attacks occur when the stress becoming overwhelming and therefore can affect the body through physical symptoms. The physical symptoms that are associated with an anxiety disorder include the feelings of overwhelming dread, the inability to take deep breaths, rapid heart rates and elevated blood pressure readings. There may also be patients that experience nausea and cold sweats. The symptoms are different for every person that experiences the disorder.

There are many known causes of insomnia or patients being unable to fall asleep or sleep through the night without uninterrupted sleep.
Some of the common causes of insomnia include:
- Caffeine before bed. This can lead the body to become energized as caffeine is a stimulant. In order to be able to relax before bed this should be avoided after a certain point in the afternoon, especially those that are sensitive to caffeine.
- Stress should be avoided and dealt with in the appropriate manner. This can reduce the time that you spend up at night thinking about specific situations that stress you out and leave you without sleep at night.
- Certain medications have caffeine in them (mainly diet supplements and weight loss pills). These types of medications should be avoided. Some prescription medications can also cause insomnia and should be avoided. Speak with your doctor to determine if there are viable alternatives to these medications that are keeping you up at night.
- Depression can cause insomnia as the mind begins to wander as you are supposed to be falling asleep. Although it can be hard to attribute depression to insomnia the patient should take into account how they have been feeling lately and if mild depression could be the cause of the insomnia which is being experienced.

There are a myriad of reasons that may cause anxiety to surface through the form of physical symptoms. For every person that suffers from anxiety, the cause may be different but the underlying physiological changes that occur within the body are similar. Here are some of the main reasons that anxiety may surface within the body:
- A stressful situation that the patient has been dealing with. This can cause immediate anxiety when faced with the situation or can cause a generalized anxiety that can contribute to general anxiety disorders when the subject is mentioned.
- Fears are often a high cause of anxiety in some patients, especially when these patients are forced to come into contact with the fear or have thoughts about facing the fear. For this reason, the patient may choose to avoid the aspect which is causing fear and anxiety.
- Chemical imbalances in the brain have been linked with the cause of generalized anxiety disorder in which there is no known for reason for the patient to appear anxious. This can be the most dehabilitating type of anxiety as the patient is unable to predict triggers that may cause an anxiety attack.
Knowing the cause of anxiety can help the patient to avoid certain triggers or create coping methods to reduce the anxiety which is felt during an attack.

These symptoms can range from shortness of breath to nausea and vomiting with the onset of the anxiety. As there are such a diverse range of symptoms it can be difficult for the patient to create coping techniques that work for all of these symptoms, therefore the treatment plan for every individual that is suffering from anxiety attacks can vary.
Here are some of the most common symptoms that can be used to identify an anxiety attack:
- Shortness of breath in the patient or tightness in the chest that can feel as if it is difficult to breathe entirely, or that can feel as if it is difficult to take a deep breath.
- Nausea and vomiting that can occur with the onset of an anxiety attack. The patient may feel as if they are anxious and have knots in the stomach that can lead to nausea and vomiting
- Feelings of overwhelming anxiety in which the patient is unsure about what is happening around them as they are only able to focus on the anxiety that is being experienced.
- Dizziness and a feeling like the individual is going to faint. This dizziness can be attributed to the increase in blood pressure and the decreased amount of oxygen that is reaching the blood and the body through the shortness of breath.
Learning to identify these symptoms can help patients to describe symptoms as well as to determine if a panic attack truly is being experienced.

Suffering from split personality disorder can be a very confusing and frustrating experience for those that have been diagnosed with the disorder. A loss of identity is often the first indicator of the disorder and can leave the patient unable to realize who they are as well as what is happening within their mind.
There are many probable causes that have been thought to be associated with split personality disorder. These include a trauma that is being withheld from the subconscious and therefore the individual creates a personality as a coping method to be able to forget about the trauma.
